Where it all began: my name is Ben Lear, and I grew up right here in West Newbury. I started this company when I was ten years old with a push mower, cutting our lawn and the neighbors'. Two years later I'd earned my way up to a riding mower — then my first zero-turn, then a truck and a small trailer. Today Grass Roots runs out of a fully equipped enclosed trailer, and I take care of 25–30 lawns across West Newbury and the surrounding towns. Nine years in, the approach hasn't changed: show up, do it right, and treat every lawn like the one I started on.
